Suppose you want to turn a photo into a logo. You then want to use this logo in Word, Photoshop or on an ipad. What are the advantages and disadvantages and how do you do it? We explain it in this blog.

Turn a photo into a logo: the best way

The best way to turn a photo into a logo is to convert it into a vector file. This allows the logo to be enlarged and reduced without loss of quality.

Turn a complete photo into a logo

Before we explain how to do this, we want to talk about why you would want to do this. There are a few disadvantages to using a photo as a logo.

A photo as a logo is not useful when ordering printed materials.

  1. First of all, you limit yourself by almost being forced to choose full-color printing. Of course you can change the colors of the logo. Only this is not as easy as with a logo that consists of lines and solid colors.
  2. In addition, a photo that you use as a logo is more difficult to combine with the rest of your flyer design. A logo combines much easier if it looks a little simpler.
  3. Usually the file size of your logo is larger if you use a photo for it. This can cause problems when you email your logo to, for example, a printing company.

Do you still want to use your photo as a logo? Then of course we won’t stop you. In this blog we explain how you can do this.

Use a part of the photo as your logo

Of course, you can also incorporate a part of the photo into your logo. We are more enthusiastic about this option than the first. If you do this in a nice way then you can create a unique logo. However, the disadvantages we just mentioned do still apply. Want to know how to do this? Then take a look at this explanation.

Is it a photo of a self-drawn logo (such as the above logo of Irene Hoeve)? Then we refer you to this blog.
