What is a file type?

A file type is the letter combination at the end of a file name. This indicates the type of file it is.

In the example above, you can see that the file has a png format.

What file types are there?

There are a lot of different file formats. Roughly speaking, you could say that there are graphic and technical file extensions. We are in the graphics corner. Therefore, we will go into more detail here and leave the technical part for what it is.
