Portable Document Format (PDF)

Portable Document Formats are vector file formats that make use of all elements in a printed document as an electronic image that you can have the ability of viewing, printing, navigating or even sharing.

There are a number of software programs that can be used to open PDF files both for Mac and Windows.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. This software program can be used to open and edit PDF files. It connects to Adobe Document cloud and a number of online storage systems like Dropbox, Box and Microsoft OneDrive.
  • Foxit Reader. This is another program that opens vector files for both Mac and Windows. With Foxit Reader, you will be able to share and secure all your documents on the cloud. In order to create PDFs, you can upload scans, convert Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel sheets, and even combine multiple PDFs into a new single file.
  • Javelin PDF Reader. Javelin PDF Reader allows you to open, print and encrypt PDF files. However, it does not have the ability to edit such files because of its small size ― 2 MBs.
  • Google Drive. Google drive acts as a PDF converter and storage system. With google drive, you will be able to convert your documents and PowerPoint presentations into PDF.
