What’s a pixel file?
A pixel file is a collective name for files that are made up of a large collection of square colored dots. The disadvantage of these files is that they become blocky when enlarged. In contrast to a pixel file, a vector file remains sharp when scaled.
What are pixel files used for?
They are (almost) always used for photos and images on websites.
What to recognize them from?
Pixel files can be recognized by their file format. This is the letter combination behind the point of the file.
Common pixel file formats are:

- .png
- .gif
- .bmp
