What’s a pixel file?

A pixel file is a collective name for files that are made up of a large collection of square colored dots. The disadvantage of these files is that they become blocky when enlarged. In contrast to a pixel file, a vector file remains sharp when scaled.

They are (almost) always used for photos and images on websites.

What to recognize them from?
